Legacy Servers

UNIX (and to some extent early Windows NT) servers were often put in place to perform a function, which they have done for many years. In these circumstances the knowledge and the people that looked after these have left the company but the server remains, faithfully getting on with the job it's been asked to do for all these years.

Here at Old Oak we understand this, we have a collection of Sun servers, some of which are a good 20 years old. We even have an old Alpha, but it's warm enough here at the moment.

So how does this work then?

As all systems are different, we'll discuss your requirements, but typically if it is support your after, we will look at the existing system and see how we can help.

If you would like the services it provides migrating onto newer hardware then we can work out a plan to accomplish that with you.

We'll come to a clear understanding with you of what your expectations are from us, and what ours are from you - we'll document a plan of how we can support the existing infrastructure, or a time-line of how we'll migrate with the least amount of disruption to your business.

So what sort of things can you maintain?

We are comfortable with pretty much any hardware and software from the last 25 years. Essentially, get in touch, and we'll see if we can help. If the box has a Sun Microsystems logo on it then we'll be especially happy.
